Or maybe Burn out is self imposed…
I just wanted to check in on this ol’ blog. I started it months ago now. I did not really have a goal. I was so frustrated with conventional social media I had to do something.
The #fediverse was a stop in my journey leaving the normal internet scrape i would call it. The normal Facebook Youtube, Tic tok , Instagram TV channel paradigm we find ourselves in.
Even now, that is the reason for this post. I still post very actively on LinkdIn to the date of writing this. It is kind of like my “last refuge”. Not a refuge by any stretch, but at least a little less prone to toxicity and literal verbal assault that is common and often algorithmically encouraged on the “other platforms”. It is a place for professionals to share ideas and network! At least that is what thier home page sells.
I am going to go into some specific problems. Promoting polarized, over commented on, posts. Hiding notifications that could lead to potential organic connections. The first one is pretty much agreed on at this point. The 2nd is not, i understand, however, I must just say it as plainly as that, at this point in time. I had it happen, there was a notification in my email that simply did not appear in the app. It could have been deleted but it just felt so spooky. I reserve the right to take it back. I guess after writing it my point could be changed to simply “I would not put it past them” and do I need to have any more evidence than that?
Gaslighting…
Oh do I hate “gaslighting”. To me it means simply to tell someone something to purposefully distort their reality. Or their perception of it.
How insidious. The definition implies it being very hard to detect. As information that is obviously wrong would not qualify as gaslighting.
For some reason it feels like social media is like the king of gaslighting. Again, my personal definition of it.
This is mostly #opinion at this point
Bro I said no refunds. IDK, fill out a help desk ticket.
My point is…
I can’t freaking take it anymore honestly. I just kind of anymore, work on my little section of technology. Spend time with people I care about. Clean, the amount of time I spend personally cleaning, it sounds so dumb but to cook 80% of meals. It is a lot of work.
Finding time to engage with social media and blogging at all is a struggle. Add to it I was just given a #NintendoSwitch2 .
I just needed to check in with the ol’ proe.whimm.ing it was born one morning when I had nothing else to do but try to figure out a way out of normal social media. Which as I write I am not even sure if was motivated purely from a good place. It could be simply that… This is important. Simply I felt like on normal social media my views are secondary or like “over there” or they have extra rules for some reason. It just stared to feel like the walls were closing in. That could be a personal problem, but #yolo .
This domain is going to expire in like 20 days…
Yeah sure, I will go in and renew it, but I guess that about sums up my attitude towards something that I have spent so many hours, years of my life doing.
So much energy but my brain is suck in this “well what does it even matter” fight. This is just going to be like #Reddit all over again. Years committed, all taken and replaced with candy politically polarized garbage!
Focusing on personal growth
Personal is the key word. I have always wanted to “help” people. Now, at this point I believe that can be one of the worst character flaws someone can have haha. Really.
It makes you willing to give things, you give and give and give and usually, they just want more. This is not to be angry about, it is just a fact of life. We all do it.
The real problem is the entire world will start to do it to you if you are not careful. I have found, it is almost like if you let it, it will just take all you have and return nothing. It is our responsibility to have confidence in ourselves and our work. For if it is truly valuable, there is no argument over the creators or contributors worthiness of award! If someone tries to tell you your valuable work is not, if the world tries to tell you, just be carful. Because it will try to tell you it is, over and over, it will let you give it away, over and over.
You need to decide for yourself what parts are actually valuable and what are not. Otherwise how will you grow! How will you get better if you are not seeing your shortcomings honestly. At anything!
In the same vein we must reward ourselves sometimes. Because the things we work on can have no value, but still be worth doing. No value in a traditional sense. I know I used that word too much…
The bottom line is you feel like a simulation because you effectively are in one, in 2026 in developed societies, WOW NOW THAT’S AN OPINION… Haha, Saturday morning, I’m just messing around on the webz.
Getting to the point…
Yeah wouldn’t that be nice. To able to actually pin something down in this world. I don’t even try anymore. Haha, again not in a sinister way, just in a “well, whats the cache” way.
We are always being sold these polished unified ideas of things we want. That’s the core of marketing, the product is the product, but the ideas around the product are what sells it.
Shoes are shoes, a bike is a bike, why did you buy that one instead of that one? I am sure you had your reasons but you must understand the person who chose the other one has his or hers reasons as well…
Don’t buy it
Keep pushing to own, to work and receive based on personal output. To foster mutually beneficial relationships that increase the overall human energy, Nicola Tesla and “human energy” is a good rabbit hole.
I’m going to shut up now
Nintendo is calling, I am sorry. Like anyone reads this.
I mostly do it for #reflection
