Discovered ripped Seals on the GR a few weeks ago…

There was 1 ripped on each side. I don’t think heat was the cause — it was likely the first pad swap I did.

I think I wedged the pads in and nicked the seals. If you’ve ever worked on these “Brembo” pad-out-the-top style calipers, you can easily hit the gasket when reinstalling the pad.

Instead of going OEM, I found a 4-pack of “enhanced” ones made by . They’re a little different than OEM, but they seem to seat really nicely. The material is much thicker too.

I do worry a bit about having 1 in 4 on each side be different, possibly causing uneven pressure. But with pads being cheap and the rotors only having ~20k miles left, it’s a risk I’m willing to take.

A word on , , and — why are we still forced to go through dealers for parts in 2026? At least with , there’s a full online parts index, but ordering is basically locked out.

It feels ancient and . I can’t realistically pay a tech to do something like this — it’s a scheduling and logistics mess. I get that owning a makes me a bit of an outlier, but still… offer us parts directly.

Because I know my Toyota dealer does NOT have “48mm silicone Brembo caliper seals” sitting on a shelf. They don’t even stock the transmission fluid.

All that said, I really like this car. Even if the only mods I ever do are maintenance…
