BAG DUMP!!!

Oh boy, this has been YEARs in the making. I have always been that weirdo who spends too much time analyzing his stuff. Since i was a child I was drawn towards what I would call “strong items” like lumps of metal or idk, whatever was simple, I was a child ok, gosh, hahaha.

So now I am “an adult” 29 to be specific. About to be Old. Work in IT, hi my name is Mr. boring I live at 123 apple ln.

VOILA:

Ok, that’s it, its all there. Just zoom in you lazy… Wait, its ok, I took like 15 more GB worth of pictures:

I even broke them into category!

SOFT GOODS:

Soft goods is a weird one, these are like “people items” I think of them as. We have:

  • Microfiber
  • Snack
  • Earplugs
  • Ethanol Wipe
  • Checks
  • Map of state
  • Polishing cloth
  • Face cover
  • Paper Envelopes
  • Business card holder
  • Passport

Gosh and thats just what lives in the back flap of the bag…

I need to improve maps, but there are more in the cars. Plus I have an extra cell phone. That is the only item that does not get used regularly here.

ELECTRONICS

Now it starts to get interesting, the list:

  • 3x USB 2.0 flash drives, rugged
  • 4x USB 3.0 flash drives, standard
  • 2x USB 2.0 Secure storage drives
  • SD to USB A adaptor
  • (Not pictures) SD cards, micro/ full size adaptor
  • 500GB USB 3.0 SSD
  • IPhone SE (working plan)
  • Laser messure
  • USB 3.0 hub
  • GPS cellular tracker/ SOS
  • High end battery bank
  • 60W power brick

Looks like not that much? Every one of those items is used and reused. The phone is mostly just peace in mind. IDK. It has saved the day.

The GPS is a financial burden, but it gives me some sort of accountability idk, the SOS is good to have.

TOOLS

Keep it lite! We do need a full bit kit, that has been used hundred of times. the Leatherman set it a bit redundant, get it, but it is good, if I need to stage a bit in the tool and leave the bag. Hey, part of the reason I make this is to spot redundancies…

LIST:

  • US/EU Allen Bits
  • Star down to size 1
  • Philips/ Flat size 1-3
  • ESD tweezers
  • Micro forcepts
  • Water heater plyers
  • Rachet Driver
  • Lock Picks
  • Flash light (AAA)

All of this is needed, even the lock picks, they have saved the day multiple times. For example fire control panels, those locks are very simple and often the key is misspaced, network rack locks are another example that are widely known to be pickable if you have this simple kit. In that way it is a tool not really anything special. It is in your “course of work” you need to get access to these things as an IT technician.

CABLES

Zoom in if you like being bored…

This is really about this list, I will be specific.

  • Headphones, 3.5MM jack/ USB C adaptor
  • USB C > Ethernet 1Gbps
  • USB A > Mini USB (data/ charge)
  • USB A > Micro USB (charge)
  • USB A > Micro USB (data/ charge)
  • USB C > Micro USB 3.0
  • USB A > Lightning (apple spec cable)
  • USB C > USB C (data/ charge) extended
  • Vuse > Type A
  • SATA 3 > USB A 3.0
  • 65W USB C Full duty cycle charger
  • 25′ CAT6 UTP
  • 85W rated USB C > USB C
  • 10′ Slim CAT 6 UTP
  • RJ45 > USB A Console Adaptor (FTDI chipset)
  • (NOT PICTURED) 15′ USB A > USB A extension cable.

Very specific that list, its been refined over idk, but its currently so important to me I have taken the time to write it down, so there haha.

Its the little things like (data/ charge) those are not by accident, you need to have those as a field tech. IDK who this post is relevant to, but it is just a bag dump.

PENS:

Ah good ol pens.

What you see is what you get, I am missing my pencil as usual…

  • Space pen
  • Sharpe equivilent
  • “Writes on black things”
  • Pen
  • MIA: Pencil, mechanical or carpenter

Ill find it eventually.

THE BAG ITSELF:

Its a good bag, it cost like $200 to my door.

It looks like a militaristic type bag. Because it is.

Am I militaristic? I guess so? IDK, the bag market is all messed up, id carry a Gucci but my Coach wallet fell apart in like 3 months so here we are…

No list, It is a bag, it is by Vanquest.

BRANDS:

I hate consumerism! But I love stuff? I don’t think I am alone in this space.

Everything you see here is to solve a problem, as such everything here has equivalent alternatives. That is why I did not list brands. Simply to me they do nothing but slow us down. I wish there was 1 brand that could like make this bag and I go and buy it but… That is not how the world works!

CONCLUSION:

I carry a lot of stuff. But I try to keep it lightweight.

I don’t know why myself and others share these. I guess we are just trying to be helpful. It has taken me a while to build this freaking bag into something I know I can rely on professionally and personally to knock down barriers in the modem silicon encrusted jungle I find myself in.

Just look at all those cables!

I don’t know how the spelling is.

The bag is subject to change without notice.
