What a place, I feel obligated to post just so the next person who types in #420 won’t see dusty posts from 2 months ago and decide the #fediverse is for… idk what but come on guys, some of these hashtags could use some spam or ai slop what the heck. It’d probably just make more people try to drown you out. As the internet should.
Myspace vibes. Or Neopets if your a borderline #GenX IDK I’m about to be 30.
Some things are clear, orange man bad, Ariana needs a hamburger and damn guys after they go, what the crap even is a celebrity? I mean there are thousands but remember the old days, when media was so small we could all share the same cast of balloon headed freaks. JK. I am not that cynical. But I do remember and often I take for granted my new philosophy that those days are simply gone.
There are like 330 Million people in just America. The world did it reach a billion? who cares my brain can’t even work at that scale neither can yours!
So that said. I figure we have kind of fragmented. Idk. Something about the idea of Federated social media just resonates with me. It makes me ok sharing things, for some reason I didn’t feel ok putting on normal social media. There are certain barriers to entry here. Not in a snotty way, but you must simply accept an alternative can exist. That to me is enough to put pretty much every federated user at, least at level 1, in technological downfall of man stopping team alpha bravo mike. ILL STOP RAMBLEING…
Federated social media seems to fit the scale of the modern world. Look, you can find empty hashtags, but other places you scroll for hours and only make it back a few days. Isn’t that nice. Oh and where are the ads? Why run ads when the entire thing lives on a laptop destined for the scrap heap! Haha, oh how will I recoup the losses involved in asking chatgpt to “make wordpress go activitypub brrrr”
There is no reason to “corral” users on Fediverse servers, well I guess there is, but you better be slick about it, because there is literally posts on your homepage from other servers that might not see things the way you do…
On Facebook anything “popular” is so saturated its impossible to find anything. Its all lumped together too well maybe. THEY DO NOT ALLOW GOOGLE INDEXING. What a missed opportunity that is #facebook How you cannot allow your group content to be indexed by #google that is so aggravating. #reddit I would say that interoperability alone has given them the place they have now as the place where ideas and problems are solved. I know there is 100% a reason Facebook does not but it is silly stuff like that. The “walled gardens” I and a lot of people are saying NO. Why would I spend my energy to build content that someone has decided needs to stay walled into their platform. The more you think about it the crazier it starts to sound.
Back to work #friyay #socialmedia #ramble
