Oh here we go… 3AM Saturday and the coffee is already gone!

So like lets go back to 5th grade gym class… Its Soccer time! So let’s go over the rules, OK what are the rules? You are going to go over there and do X, I am going to do Y and if we meet we will try to do Z, which is score a goal, get the ball into the other teams net.

What did we just do? We “created order“.

What do I mean by “order”

We are now doing something together, in the gym class example. This concept, I believe is very important and transcends computer systems, human systems like government, and biological systems. It is a concept of Duality.

Simply, any entity is experiencing some sort of “order”. Weather it likes it or not. There are boundaries to things, even if they are hard to see.

Imagine we are all running around the Soccer field now, we are all sharing this common goal, of scoring a goal (no puns lol). It is beautiful to me and a lot of people, simply when we work together for something it is “good”.

The point is…

I wanted to write this out, because I think concepts like this can be useful for getting threw the world in one piece! We do not have to be “hands off” we can isolate principles like this and apply them to other areas.

Lets take this one further. Again, the concept is “Independent commonality creates order”. Let’s expand it, “Independent nodes when co-ordinated seem to create large systems”. This is just something I noticed. IDK, 3AM Saturday give me a break!

I was applying it to computer systems, I run a fleet of computer systems. Simply that is how I would describe it. I notice that myself and other shops, we make “cookbooks”. That is all this idea came from. The idea in IT we make these recipes, we apply them, but what we are doing is creating a large system made up of little systems.

I find personally, to make resilient systems, it really helps to have “commonality”. There needs to be some “level playing field”. If every single computer is a custom design and everything is unique too it. It simply is not very “resilient” or it takes a lot more energy to maintain compared to one that is a simply copy of a standard “cookbook” that can be “re-flashed” “wiped” “restored” etc.

Think about a website, if a website is a static page of HTML, it can be saved easily, it can be redeployed easily, it can be seen by millions of users for less compute power than is required to play a video game. Now take a fully custom WordPress website, while yes a “good dev” can effectivly make a dynamic application run as if it were static, the compressed information required too do that is obscuring something…

Is is obscuring the coordination costs of the larger code base!

Coordination and Order

It can be said simply, “no one can do it alone”. At least for humans this is known to be true, and not… here we go again…

Anytime we need something, we usually get some help, but then we can use that help to our personal advantage. Often there is an invoice involved…

In order to pull this off we need some coordination. We need to hand the other person the thing and they need to hand us our thing. Its gotta happen some how for whatever you are dealing with.

So back to 5th grade gym class. We are giving verbal instructions likely. Maybe in 7th grade they start writing things out, now there is a “rule book” that some are studying.

Now, post college, we make power points and freaking fly across the country if we need too.

Increasing the Human Energy

At this point I am filing this blog under #ramble haha. Sorry ol’ guy. I just can’t figure out how to conclude.

Nickolas Tesla. I spent hours reading his works and that idea always stuck with me. That man, who was deemed one of the greatest minds in one of the most difficult scientific fields man has dipped his toes into. If one of that man’s core ideas was “increasing the human energy” then I believe it is an idea worth exploring. I have, and it as brought me fortune and many “good things”. It has allowed me to work without the burden of “why”.

The “why” when you seek to generally increase the effectiveness, the energy, the efficiency, the integration. The Why is so obvious to everyone involved that they seem to understand and want to help. Which is often simply what I need in business and personal situations!

To make your “why” simply to be “make it better”. Then make “better” mean, serve the people it is serving in a way that requires less from them and provides them with more. That is the goal of a true maker!

Look at our cells. Every cell in your body has a copy of the instructions required to create all other cells, however no 2 cells are identical atomically. Even the unified systems have variance. Snowflake theory…
