to be completely honest with myself, latley I feel like writing after using LLMs. For some reason it just makes the entire thing more approachable idk. You see it vomit out all these words like if a robot can… I can produce word vomit too!

The phrase “word vomit” is not mine. I think its widely used… Probably like the title of this post. I fell like Ive heard this before even.

Google maps dosent have Pot-holes on it…

It has cops, but in my experience thats like 40/60% in accuracy. Im not even sure where the split leans…

Apparently, life’s map dosent show hazards either.

It just makes a good similly. Like you set out on life, you have all these big plans. Everything can be going so well… and then there is a nail… BUT IN THE INSTRUCTIONS IT SAID THIS WOULD BE EASY.

Haha, what prompted this, I was in college. We had a class, it was called idk, Humanities 188 or something. The majority of the class was about “globalized vs sequential learning”. The idea that humans tend one way or the other, that we all go one way or the other depending on context.

A global way to solve a problem is throw yourself into it and try to wrangle it all before it overwhelms you. A sequential way is to prepare a plan to wrangle and spend energy before putting in any direct energy to the problem.

Both have thier pros and cons. Both can have the brain in the bone robot folded up into a grease spot if done improperly.

Due to the nature of the map lacking nails, I have been forced to anticipate nails!

Like if I need to use a map, to get me there, its not going to warn me about nails. More, it isnt even going to tell me what route to take. I need to do all that on my own anway.

It seems in modern times, it is easy to try and let the freaking map tell you where the nails are!

Vice versa, ill admit myself I overlay a lot more than just nails on my hazard map. Following the map is important, we just need to understand that it will not get us there! We will!

More whimsical language

A map wont tell you what route to take. It will not tell you what car to take. It wont tell you what buildings are along the road as they will be when you see them. It won’t tell you what music should be played. It wont tell you where to stop for gas.

All a map will do is guild you. That is all it ever hoped to do. It didn’t even attempt to do anything else. Unless it is a “special map”.

The word map, to me, represents a pre sorted collection of ideas. For roads, highways, it is a illustration of curvature overlayed with designations to distinguish junctions and features.

In something like a trade, like low voltage cabling, the map is standards. The standards are general. They tell us what cannot be done. What configurations are “illegal”. Often, they do not give a reason directly, we can infer but sometimes you will find a practice with an inferred reason that has drifted it away from the original condition it was intended to prevent! Zip ties… or idk, Grounding network racks perhaps, if done incorrectly can cause an electrical hazard. So we wanted to stop something, and we created it! When it wouldn’t have even been there before!

That would be “following the map off a cliff”. Something that is known to get us from time to time.

Conclusion

Don’t follow a map off a cliff because it looked like thats where you should go. It is a map, not a driver. Also, don’t be a driver without a map! Because hes probably going to fall off a cliff too.
